Location: Located on the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge resort
The Boma – Place of Eating provides a unique cultural experience that bombards the senses with the tastes, sights, sounds and smells of Africa – together with the warmth and hospitality of Zimbabwe and its people. It is open for dinner 365 days of the year. We recommend that anyone staying in the Victoria Falls has dinner at the Boma on one of their evenings. Advance reservations are necessary!
The Menu: Specializing in a superb selection of traditional Zimbabwean dishes, The Boma offers a four-course meal combining a mouth-watering choice of starters, soup from the campfire and a substantial barbeque buffet served on cast iron plates. We offer a wide variety of salads from our salad bar and to follow, a choice of delicious desserts. Everyone’s tastes are catered for including vegetarian and Halaal diners, and whilst the adventurous are enticed with local delicacies such as Mopani worms and game stews, for the less adventurous beef, pork, fish and chicken dishes are also available. The Boma is renowned for its warthog fillet.
The Experience: The Boma is open for dinner from 19:00hrs. We highly recommend that you are seated by 19:15hrs for an evening filled with entertainment. Diners are welcomed and dressed in ‘chitenges’ (traditional robes) prior to entering the main enclosure. They are then invited to take part in a hand washing ceremony before sampling local snacks and traditional beer, as a prelude to dinner. A feast of nightly entertainment incorporates traditional dancers, a local folk storyteller and a fortune teller. After dinner, guests are invited to join in the interactive drumming extravaganza from 21:00hrs until 21:30hrs led by the renowned Amazulu Cultural Ensemble. This is the highlight of the evening and all are invited to participate.
Dress: Dress casually in light clothing in the summer months from September to April and warm clothing during the winter months from May to August.
