The Chikoko Trails Camps are comprised of two private camps: Chikoko Tree Camp and Crocodile River Camp. The en-suite chalets at Chikoko Tree Camp are raised above the ground sitting within the surrounding tree canopies, enhancing the view of the spectacular surrounding Acacia grove, the array of wildlife that frequent it and the associated wildlife activity that unfolds throughout the day. The chalets at Crocodile River Camp all rest beneath a grove of spectacular Muchenja (Ebony) trees. Each chalet overlooks a dambo and is perfectly situated to enable guests to observe the daily wildlife action as it unfolds.
Walk from camp to camp in the remote Eastern Zambia following the animal footpaths. Discover the inner workings of the African bush as the expert Remote African Safaris’ guides share their experience and wilderness knowledge. The route follows the well-worn elephant and hippo trails, not to mention the original footsteps of David Livingstone, through the Luangwa Valley. Walks are accompanied by an experienced guide, an armed National Park scout and a tea bearer – an incredible way to experience the bush and learn more about nature.
No vehicles operate in this area so you get the true sense of being in the wilderness. All luggage and supplies are portered into the camps. Safari walks typically last three to four hours and this includes a welcome mid-morning tea break. Terrain covered is fairly flat but occasionally uneven. During the heat of the day there are some lovely spots to relax in camp. Meals are exceptional with lots of fresh ingredients.
We recommend a minimum of 3 nights between the 2 camps – ideally 5 nights if time permits.
