Owned and operated by the Cummings Family (Dave, Jenny, Grant and Lynsey) Chiawa Camp offers attentive yet unpretentious, personalised service, good food and fantastic “tents” with spectacular views of the Zambezi and its resident wildlife. All this in a beautiful setting with leopards, lions, elephants, hippos and other wildlife as your neighbours.
The tents all have timber floors and verandas with excellent views and are accessed by paths running behind them to maximise privacy. All share ample comforts, conveniences and unexpected luxuries such as 24/7 lighting and charging facilities (220v UK plugs), 24/7 hot & cold running water, king size beds, Egyptian cotton linens, his & hers washbasins, indoor and outdoor showers and ball & claw baths complemented by Molton Brown amenities. Whilst they offer a level of luxury, they still retain the rustic and unpretentious feel that Chiawa is so well loved for.
Chiawa is renowed for their strong guiding ethics and focus on the ultimate guest enjoyment on activities. With 6 pro guides and 6 vehicles for only 16 guests, vehicles never have more than 4 guests on them. Indeed when I stayed at Chiawa in June, I was amazed as a smallish group of 8 people were split up into 4 separate activities – a family with 2 young daughters went off on the river, 2 brothers went on a walking trip, a German Photographer with a lense almost larger than he was went off on his own private activity and I had the luck of equally having my own private safari – what bliss!
