Baines River Camp is a luxurious and intimate safari lodge with just eight double suites and one two-bedroomed cottage, set on the northern bank of the Zambezi River amid Tamarind and Jackalberry trees. This colonial style safari lodge, named after the famous artist and explorer Thomas Baines, offers a wide variety of activities in and around the Lower Zambezi National Park including game drives, walking, canoeing, boat cruises and fishing. They also run various specialized workshops including photographic, fly fishing and birding.
There are no set meal times at Baines. Breakfasts, brunches and lunches are prepared and served to suit your activities and personal preferences. During the evening, or at Dinner, your host will gladly discuss your activities for the next day and coordinate your meals accordingly. The true river and bush enthusiasts do not need to return to the camp for brunch or lunch. Delicious picnic meals and snacks can be prepared and packed for you early in the morning.
The mainly open plan design of the lodge area is based on the colonial style of a bygone era, offering guests magnificent views of the Zambezi River from The Selous Bar, the lounge and dining areas and from the 11 meter swimming pool. The outdoor boma-style fire place is lit every evening and on cold winter evenings the fireplaces in the bar and in the dining room offer extra comfort. A magnificent library collection is housed in The Boardroom and two workstations in one of the lounges offer a quiet and private spot to comfortably catch up with your emails. Massage and Beauty treatments can be offered from the comfort of your room. An exclusive Boardroom offers the perfect venue for corporate getaways and team-building.
