Located just outside the Park overlooking the Luangwa River, Flat Dogs Camp offers a very reasonably priced safari experience with good quality accommodation, service, food and guiding. They offer a range of accommodation including Chalet rooms, En-Suite Safari Tents and their more exclusive Jackalberry Treehouse (more details on these rooms below). Owner run by Ade, Jess and Paolo, the atmosphere at Flat Dogs is fun and relaxed, catering for families, couples and small groups. The restaurant offers delicious meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are no set meals or meal times here – guests can order what they’d like to eat, when they’d like to eat it. Seating is either inside under the thatch, or at tables in the courtyard or in the garden area overlooking the river. The lodge also has a bar, swimming pool, gift shop and internet café. A full range of safari activities are offered including game drives, night drives and walking safaris.

Number Rooms:

6 Chalets –  are found in three separate buildings: each chalet building has a downstairs double room with en-suite bathroom and an upstairs twin/triple room with their own bathroom, just downstairs from the bedroom. The two rooms in each building are completely separate with their own facilities, but can be joined through the small kitchen area if a family or group of friends want to book both rooms. Both rooms have their own downstairs gauzed-in verandah sitting area.

1 Family Chalet – 3 bedrooms, 1 twin, 1 double & 1 upstairs twin loft room (all  en-suite)

6 Luxury En- Suite Safari Tents (1 is a family tent) – hanging rack for clothes, hot shower, flush toilet and basin.

1 Honeymoon En-Suite Tent – hanging rack for clothes, hot shower, flush toilet and basin.

5 Standard En-Suite Safari Tents – hanging rack for clothes, open air bathroom with hot shower, flush toilet and basin, fully-gauzed windows and doors but no mosquito nets

Jackalberry Tree House (2 bedrooms) – only open 5th April – 15th November – open air en suite bathroom facilities, with hot shower. One bedroom has a queen-sized bed, the other bedroom has either two single beds or these can be converted to a king-sized bed. A fridge and bar are provided in the tree house as well as tea- and coffee-making facilities.
