Lilayi offers a luxury experience in a tranquil bush environment and is ideal for clients who have a little longer in Lusaka and want to get out of town. Also perfect for small conference and incentive groups and weddings. They have a fantastic restaurant and incredible wine list and cellar!
Established in 1988 and enveloped in rich cultural history, the game farm consists of a 650 hectare plot of land situated within the Miller Lilayi Farm. As a family owned business, Lilayi has belonged to the Miller family for over 100 years, which has seen the original farmhouse registered as a Zambian Heritage House in 1996.
A dear asset to Lilayi is that of the Lilayi Elephant Nursery. Managed by Game Rangers International and established with ongoing critical support from the David Shepherd WIldlife Foundation, the Nursery rescues and rehabilitates orphaned elephant calves who can be viewed daily, between 11h30 – 13h00, from the viewing platform located near the entrance.
A stay at the Lodge will give you the opportunity to see up to sixteen varieties of antelope from the ubiquitous Impala and Waterbuck, the more common Puku, Eland and Kudu or the rarer Roan and Sable Antelope. The game farm also has Giraffe, and Burchell’s Zebra. The habitat is original Miombo or Mungu woodland with open areas reverting to Acacia or Bauhenia. This, along with two large dams, supports a prolific bird population – over 300 species have been identified including woodland, wetland and grassland species, many raptors and a range of migrants.
