Chongwe is one of the oldest and most established companies in the Lower Zambezi, going into its 17th year of operations. Chongwe River Camp has to be in one of the prettiest locations on the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi River, built under a beautiful canopy of Acacia Winter thorn trees. The manicured emerald green lawns (kindly kept trim by nighttime visits from hippos!) give the camp a “park-like” feel. The ambiance at Chongwe River Camp is relaxed and informal and the camp lends itself perfectly to a combination of leisure and activity with a wide variety of activities on offer including game drives, night drives, walking, canoeing, fishing and river cruises.

Your choice of accommodation is either in spacious and well appointed classic tents or the Albida or Cassia tented suites, all looking out onto the confluence of the Zambezi and Chongwe Rivers affording great birding and game viewing from the comfort of your room!

Chongwe River Camp is run by Allan and Flossie. Flossie’s bubbly and effervescent personality and Allan’s calm and friendly approach make you feel like you are the most important people in the camp as you relax into your home away from home.
