Kaingu Safari Lodge is definitely located on one of the most stunning sections of the Kafue River. At Kaingu the wide and steady flowing river stretches out and flows around countless granite boulders, rapids, grassy sandbanks and islands. The lodge is an owner run operation offering a very comfortable and personal safari experience in a remote and untouched area of the Kafue. The atmosphere is very relaxed with fresh and delicious meals generally served outdoors under an umbrella of palm trees, on the deck overlooking the Kafue River. You can chose to either keep your days busy with a range of activities or, if you prefer, just relax and feel the heartbeat of Africa.

The Kafue National Park, just opposite the lodge and only a 10 minute boat trip away, offers a good game experience that you can enjoy viewing from comfortable open game drive vehicles.

The Kafue River, with all its myriad of channels, rapids and islands lends itself to a range of exciting river based activities which include boat cruises, fishing, birding, canoeing and river trails. From the top of one of the large granite boulders in the Namwala GMA you will get a 360° view over nothing but nature! An incredible spot to enjoy sundowners after a late afternoon walk. An historical iron smelter has been re-constructed in this area and a visit to the Kaingu Trust School can also be organized.

Dear Emma,
The holiday was wonderful and even the heat did not stop us enjoying. The staff were amazing with us and the kids, and our guide’s name was Israel, so it was a good start 😀. Everything was above expectations. Thank you so much for your small gifts which we really enjoyed.
We have a lot of great pics and had good sightings of lion and cheetah on our drives. We will send through to you.
Thank you again,
Best Regards

This was the first time I had visited this area of the park and particularly wanted to go after hearing about the amazing rocks.  I had not travelled there before because of the reputation of the old road but with the new road on the west bank it was very easy access (now possible for a weekend from Lusaka!).  It was the end of the rains so the river was high and the rocks less accessible but it is a very beautiful part of the Kafue River.  The camp was a wonderful surprise – I love tented camps that have maintained the natural feel.  The tents were well thought through and very comfortable.  And they were not “over luxurious”.   The deck over the water – where we had our meals, was also a highlight.  Gil and Julia were the perfect host/guides and made the weekend very special.  So – again – thanks for suggesting the camp.  I really enjoyed discovering a understated, bush but upmarket camp.
