We pride ourselves on the fact that our clients always have a wonderful trip. Read through some of their experiences below.

We just got back a couple hours ago from Kanyemba and had the most amazing time! The lodge was just incredible- we never dreamed we’d be eating one amazing meal after another and that every detail would be managed so well. Ben and Cora loved it there and had so much fun going out on the boats and playing in the pool (it really is all about the pool at that age, isn’t it?). The bungalow was so pretty and Ricardo so hospitable. We can’t wait to return and cannot believe we didn’t go there sooner. Now it’s our favorite place on the Zambezi! Thank you so much for the beautiful bottle of wine- that was very thoughtful (though you shouldn’t have as you have already done so much to help us out!). Russ (a self-professed coffee lover) must have had about 30 cappucinos during our 4 days and Cora could not get enough of the strawberry gelato. Ben’s favorite treat on earth are gingerbread cookies and they must have read his mind because they even served those at tea time one day. The Italian starters each night were incredible- a meal in themselves, really. I loved every single thing and can’t wait to go back.

Thank you so, so much again for the suggestion and for your help with the booking.

There are no words to describe your calibre of professionalism and expertise in this field. You are not only incredible at your job but have the most amazing attitude and positive, calm energy doing it. That is hard to find. I can assure you that on our next visit we will partner again. Thank you for taking care of our guests and me throughout the entire experience and going above and beyond daily with changes. You are amazing and we enjoyed working together. Keep in touch.

Dear Emma, you put together an amazing itinerary in order for us to visit the famous Busanga Plains in the north of Kafue National Park. With a choice of Busanga Bush Camp or Shumba Camp, both Wilderness properties, we opted for Shumba as they had a pool to cool off in during the hot October holiday. We were pleasantly surprised, however, that—though it was hot during the day—the nights and mornings were refreshingly cool and the days even had a nice breeze to break the heat.
Shumba was everything Emma promised: First, the amazing game drives! Isaac, our guide, was so knowledgable and worked hard to meet our every “need.” My husband saw his desired cheetahs—3 times! Multiple lion sightings—with Princess taking the “cute prize”! Leopards hunting, elephants traveling across the massive plains, hippos crowding the pools for precious water, zebras, birds and, of course, hundreds of grazers, 21 of the 23 antelope species!
The hot air balloon ride, complimentary for staying at least 3 nights, provided the most incredible way to view the plains and its game. How else could you take a picture of an African fish eagle from above?! Eric, our balloonist, was incredibly skilled, “shaving” the landscape at times to get an up close and personal view of hippos and ellies! And, just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, we were driven to a champagne breakfast, complete with the Shumba chef’s wonderful bagels and smoked salmon, banana muffins, fresh fruit and juice—amazing.
The camp itself was stunning, but it’s a stretch to call it a “camp.” Our chalet was one of six, built to enjoy an expansive view of the plains from our private veranda and screened in, well-appointed “tent.” A morning wake-up call for tea and coffee, fresh cookies every day, a decanter of sherry to enjoy at our pleasure, indoor AND outdoor showers, a “don’t want to get out of it” king-size bed…the whole experience made returning home very difficult.
I must mention Laura and Daniel, Shumba’s amazing hosts, who made us feel so at home and obviously led the way in service. The certificate on the wall in the main lodge displaying Shumba’s Service Award was well-deserved, as every staff member knew our name, what we liked to drink, our morning and evening routines, everything necessary to make us feel as if we were leaving long-time friends upon our departure. We so appreciated the wonderful and ample food so beautifully prepared and presented by the chefs and staff. They went out of their way to prepare an open-air dinner in the boma, as well as a surprise sundowner in the bush, complete with carpet, beanbag seating and every type of drink we might desire to accompany the provided snacks, including veggie skewers just cooked over an open fire. Cautiously watching a single male elephant approaching our little gathering made it even more exciting!
Thank you, Emma, for offering us the opportunity to experience the Busanga Plains and Shumba camp. And, of course, for the bottle of bubbly you provided for our first night; your thoughtfulness created a 40th anniversary year memory we’ll never forget!

“Emma, of People and Place is a fantastic consultant. Because I was going on my very first safari, I wanted it to be perfect but it is hard to know what is “out there.” Working with Emma / People and Places was the best choice we made. She listened to the needs of my husband and I and then tailor fit our vacation. She provided many options and listed reasons why we would like each one. She was very flexible when we changed plans and also was patient in how she explained everything. Her organization and quick replies to emails and phone calls made me feel like I was in expert hands. We have now booked another vacation with P&P and will do so exclusively for all future trips in this part of the world.”

I would like to say thank you very much for organising our family holiday. Everyone treated us like royalty at the camps and all transfers and went smoothly without a hitch. Some of the highlights were the hot air balloon ride over the plains and the log pile at Little Makalolo.

Dear Emma, thanks for organising my families recent trip to Royal Zambezi Lodge. The lodge is located in a very scenic section of the Lower Zambezi with wide open views of the river with rich game viewing of elephants, hippos and all sorts of wildlife that come down to the river to feed while you dine. The cabins are very nice and comfortable with all the needed amenities that you expect from a first-class lodge. We enjoyed spending evenings talking by the fire on the main deck overlooking the river. The two great things about Royal, are:its location on the river with multiple activities to choose from and being next to the airstrip makes it an easy 30 minute flight from Lusaka. Besides safari and fishing, the most memorable activity was doing a canoe safari down the channel. The peace and quiet of a canoe trip made us you feel close to nature and the animals along the way. Natalie, Ewan and Tikki will welcome you and make you feel at home.

Hi Emma.
It was lovely to meet you, kids and family (even if that bit was brief!) before leaving Lusaka. So satisfying to put a face to the e mail voice. It has taken a while to settle back into humdrum life since I got back but I think that I am thoroughly back into my groove now.

I just wanted to write and thank you for all the effort you put in to make our holiday together such a great experience.  The Robin Pope Safari house was fabulous , far exceeded all expectations, thanks also for managing to negotiate such a favourable rate…which, of course, made that part of the trip a possibility.

The Zambezi Sun was also a great choice..very relaxing atmosphere with all of the advantages of the 5star….Perfect!  We had such a lot of fun there.

I am so glad that Pennie persisted in her recommendations to use your travel agency…it was very much to our advantage and I can’t thank you enough.

We all had a fine time shopping at the Tribal Textiles workshop in Mfuwe and it didn’t end there as we were making last minute decisions at their shop in Lusaka airport where even the boys got on board with some serious last minute purchases.

Dear Emma,

I know that Deb already told you how AWESOME our trip o South Luangwa was, but I just wanted to thank you too for organizing this memorable weekend for us.

The Robin Pope Safari House was beyond what we imagined it would be. It was beautiful and stunning. The people were so friendly and accommodating. They were great with the kids. They even had a crib for our baby ready. They cooked extra meals for our children, made teddy bear shaped cakes, cooked delicious food and were so helpful. We felt like home and didn’t want to leave. This was the best trip we ever took in Zambia and I can highly recommend this to any family with kids or no kids.

Thank you so much Emma for organizing this great weekend for us. We will leave Zambia with a beautiful memory in our hearts. All my worries were for nothing.

Dear Emma,

The weekend was AMAZING!  We can’t say enough about the house and the Robin Pope staff. It was the most perfect way to end our five years here in Zambia – memories we will carry with us as we all leave in June.

Thank you for arranging our trip – and for the lovely welcome bag.  You are one in a million!

Deb and David Chapman
Dear Emma,

Wonderful is an understatement. Everything went perfectly at Shumba – only the balloon trip happened a day earlier because of expected high wind velocity on the 3rd. But the trip as such was a great experience. The champagne breakfast in the bush was great too.

Dan and Laura took good care of us, the staff was very friendly, food was excellent and cooked to perfection, rooms were superb and Idos our guide was just outstanding. His knowledge on the wilderness was way above anyone we have come across in so many of our outings in the last 25 years. No doubt that is the reason for his winning so many accolades in his career as a professional guide. We had some great animal sightings, Cheetah’s, Leopard, Lions, Wilder Beest, Roan Antelope, Warthogs, Buffalo’s ( though at a distance ), plenty of birds including Secretary Bird. We missed out on Sable and the Elephants. The plains were full with various species of Antelopes as well.
Our daughter’s 21st birthday dinner was also well celebrated, the staff had baked a nice cake for her and hand crafted a birthday card which will always be treasured. We also appreciate and thank you for the gift you managed to get it across to her. Shamola would like to thank you personally before she departs. To summarize, the visit has created lasting memories for us.

Thanks so much again for organizing our trip this time to Puku Ridge in South Luangwa.
We had such a good time there. All 4 of us felt very welcomed, pampered and looked after. The staff were very helpful, kind and the food was delicious!
The lodge is on a beautiful site, from where we could see animals all the time. Even from our bed we had a beautiful view. We saw plenty of animals, in 2 days we saw 5 leopards and 3 herds of lions eating buffalo! The guide and scout who went with us on safari in the morning, evening and during the walking safari where very knowledgeable and gave us value for money.
I myself have visited many lodges in South Luangwa, but this was one of the best! We had an unforgettable time.
Thanks again for all your effort you have put in organizing this last trip for us,
