Chintheche Inn is a relaxed and fun lake side resort, set on the western shores of central Lake Malawi, characterised by pristine sandy beaches that are palm-fringed, and dotted by fishing villages and patches of lowland tropical forest. Lake Malawi is Africa’s third largest and second deepest lake and is ideal for families and groups wanting to base themselves to explore the lakeside.
In and around Chintheche are lovely stretches of sandy beaches, patches of lowland tropical forest – and the Lake itself. The Lake has a wide range of underwater habitats, resulting in an abundant wealth and diversity of mostly endemic aquatic life. Lake Malawi supports over 2 000 species of freshwater fish – a greater variety than any other lake on Earth, more than all of Europe and North America combined. The majority of these are colourful fish called cichlids of which Lake Malawi contains more than 400 types, or 30% of all known species.
